A Week to Rest

This past week was difficult and Julia fought some of the nasty side effects of the chemotherapy. She spent most of the days following last week’s chemo resting. She was very nauseous and could not even keep the Zofrin (the anti-nausea medicine) down on Wednesday. As the week went on, her strength came back, but she didn’t have much of an appetite.

Today, Julia went to clinic for her check up and blood work. Her platelet level was low, but not low enough to need a transfusion. The doctor felt Julia’s counts had already bottomed out from the chemo and were beginning to rebound. Julia did lose some weight this week (.4 kg or a little over 3/4 lb).

It will be good to have two weeks off chemo to rest and recover. Her doctor also feels that if Julia has a good week, she will not need to come to clinic next week. Let’s all hope Julia has a great week and can have a break from the needles.
